mid-top end perf. wanted, pump tweak suggestions?

My truck feels strong 'enough' off idle and through the tip in of the throttle, and for quick stabs of the throttle to get around people in traffic. But I'm definitely wanting more in the 1/2 throttle area. I get about 15psi there but the truck doesn't move out like I'd like. Wouldn't mind some more WOT either. The truck will lightly haze at WOT, never at any other throttle. The pump was worked on by a diesel shop back home when I still had the 21 housing on. It didn't really smoke much then either, so it's set pretty mild. Empty I only see about 700* WOT, towing about 950* pre turbo. I believe the pin is still in the factory position, not turned with the dimple to the cowl.

What adjustments will give me more umph where i want it?

Turn the fuel pin so you're at the deepest setting, that will help a lot. If that's not enough, turn up the main screw on the back of the pump. I'm gonna and tell you to make sure that you're getting full travel on your throttle linkage, too.

Advanced timing will also help in the mid to upper end.

the throttle linkage was corrected when the pump was turned up, I should have said that. It definitely was a problem intially. I believe they adv. the timing 2-3*, probably not as far as it could go tho

You haven't said what injectors you are running. But to get more top end power, your gonna have to get more fuel in there. Plus your gonna need to turn up the high idle. Turning up the power screw will mean a idle adjustment and turning up the high idle will mean a linkage adjustment. Both of which you can do yourself. Lots of info on that stuff.
And it would be a good thing to know where your timing was set. A little advance will help on power, but you should know where it is.
700-950 degrees pre-turbo is very cool. This means your not putting any fuel into it.

just a thought but if you havent replaced your lift pump in years this might be part of the problem. even if it doesnt leak it is possible that the diaphragm is stetched and therefore it would not travel the full stroke of the pump lever, which would mean not the full supply of fuel to the inject pump at wot .

new lift pump went on about 2 months ago. Still have the stock injectors. I'm not lookin to make 400hp, but I have grown used to the improvement the pump and 16cm housing intially gave, so now I need some more
How can I go about seeing where my timing is at now, most guys just talk about moving it to some mark on the case?

The right way to do timing involves a dial indicator and a special adapter. The quick and dirty way is to advance it until it sounds bad, then back off some. The generally recommended amount by PDR is 1/8" of rotation. If there are marks on the pump and timing case, then use them, if not, make your own marks and have at it. I like this wrench for that impossible bottom nut. A 1/4" drive U-joint and about 18 inches of extensions makes the top nut accessible.
