Minor pump tweak without pyro...Safe?

Well today I tweaked the pump on my friends first gen, just the torx screw on top of the of the pump that controls low boost fueling. Ive read that This should only increase egts about 75* on long pulls, Is this true/consistant? He has no pyro, but he does have a straight exhaust so that should help with egts. The truck definatly has better take off now. I only turned it 1.5 turns instead of the 2 turns as posted on the dodgeram.org just to be safe but is it still risky? What about egts towing a 7500 lb trailer?

All you did was make it smoke more off the line. That adjustment doesn't affect anything else.

No it doesnt smoke really any more than stock. What about if i turn it in even more? Will the milage stay the same(if you dont romp on it of course)?
EDIT Im also thinking of adjusting the fullpower screw, not much maybe 1/4 of a turn, how safe is this without a pyro? Dangerous?

If your truck is a 92 you probably are not going to get into dangerous temps by turning up the pump. You are also not going to get a real big hp-torque boost either due to the tiny injectors... and large exhaust housing on the turbo.... unless a previous owner changed injectors. If you have an 89 to early 91 you better get the pyro first. In any case, turned up or not, you had better avoid long climbs at wot till you can see what is happening.

wanna, are you sure turning the smoke screw up only produces more smoke!
when i gave mine 2 turns it gave me a little more low end power, along with a little smoke. it was a noticable diffrence for sure, on a then stock truck.
i turned it back down when i added my pyro and boost gauge. got some base line numbers and then turned it back up. my EGT's went up 50*F, and made a very small increase on spool up time. it seems there is more than a gain of just smoke from turning up the smoke screw.

Guys, with the 21 cm housing you do have to be very careful of EGT at low RPM. Those things just don't spool up, and EGT can get out of control fast with no boost. Leave that pump alone until you get a pyro on the truck, and get a smaller turbine housing on it too.

Bob- All the smoke screw does is set the preload on the AFC cone. It does not add fuel, it just lets it come on with less boost.
