and yes many guys report higher numbers with the smarty down or off. i wanna try it on level 3. i run level 3 on the street with the TST off most of them time unless i wanna play with some imports. i prefer not having the short pedal of the smarty tho. i like the full range of the throttle.
Cool may have to try that . Lately I have been running smarty #7 and TST 0-3. Trying to pick up some combinations before I go dyno later this month...

Lets see, 500hp the hard way.
Con FE.
p-pump conversion with 887 or 913 pump.
Trip to the pump shop and have it bumped to around 400-425cc with 181 delivery valves and a 100 plate.
ported and o-ringed head w/ arp studs.
twins. Don't have to be huge here.
a set of Dons Mach 1.2's.
Set the timing at 16 degrees and you should be at around 500 with a small set of twins. Put on a larger primary, advance timing to around 20 degs, go to mach 6's and you might make a bit over 500.
You'll be able to drive at that level anytime you feel like it because there is nothing to change and the egts won't get out of hand flat out. Towing at 500 will tear up your tranny quickly.
I just thought I'd throw this out as a bad example.

i drive my 500hp truck ***** to the wall everyday. only thing i have to do is wait til its up to operating temp before going over 20psi, just to be safe. i take it out on nights when its 28-30 degrees, good cold dense air and can rip on it with 45-50psi and i KNOW my hg isnt going anywhere, too many people dont take these precautions like i did before...and they pay for it

anyways, you have 640 to the ground now...is that with all that stock stuff you listed?
I did 640 with the stock components, but I quickly developed head gasket problems. More like immediately. It would float the head and fill the coolant reservoir. I took it back down to a sane level so I can build a head for it, and stud it at the same time. Problem is, now if I go over 350hp or so, it starts blowing out antifreeze.

STACK WITH SUPERCHIPS
PS 62/14
4" STRAIGHT
HOLLEY BLUE W/ FITTINGS
STUDS
.10 OVER MARINE
FRESH HEAD W/ NEW SPRINGS, PUSHRODS, SEATS, & GUIDES
CON OFE OR FE (CAN'T REMEMBER) BUT GET A D.D. !!!!
AMSOIL IN IT ALL EXCEPT MOTOR (VALVOLINE BLUE)
HIGH RAM W/POOLE POWER BLOCK
AFE I W/PG7
ATS MANIFOLD

my opinion is go first with a charger you can add twins too later and go big with injectors. all work was done myself. really easy in my opinion, don't be scared to try it. i have 1.6's sitting on the shelf but can't bring myselft to put them back in. mileage may suffer a little with big sticks but that all depends on how you drive. i only lost 1-1.8 mpg with the big sticks.
next mods include : new intercooler and s400 with a twin kit. i'm almost maxed out with the HO unless the SO pump swap works.

Thanks for all the help and info guys I am thinking about going the twin route I am wanting a good reliable daily driver with plenty of power to do what ever I want when ever I want. So for now I will figure $10K just to be safe and do it right the first time. I am sure I will need more help as I go so thank you in advance.

nope sorry...if im gonna upgrade im doing it right this time. wanna go for a 66 or silver bullet, tho i think i could put a big charger under this B1 maybe and have a set of twins that would not let the temps get above 1200* but i wanna be able to pull next year in some street/modified classes and not the unlimited type class with twins etc.
