I have a 01 with the hx 35 turbo, i am looking to by a quadzilla boost fooler to get the maximum boost out of the turbo, but i was reading on quadzillas website that you have to modify the waste gate to get the maximum boost. What do they mean when they say modify the waste gate?

 

The wastegate is not controlled by the ECM so the boost fooler only works if you actually increase the boost. You would need a boost elbow installed in the pressure line to the wastegate to up the boost pressure from stock.

That being said, boost is not created without more fuel. So the boost fooler alone is not gonna give you any more power unless you start adding fuel ALA injectors or programmer.

 

Does the boost elbow go in between the wastegate and the turbo

 

Yup.. It would thread into the place on the turbo compressor outlet that the hose currently comes from, to the wastegate.

 

Anyone have some pics and more explanation on this? I'm still a noob at this turbo modding thing. Where is the wastegate?
