how much timing

just a quick question. i was told this weekend to only run about 12-13* of timing becasue of my 370's instead of the 15.5* im running now this is wrong right

Who told you that?

Rick ran 16.5* with basically your setup (IIRC he had a 4k GSK) I see no real reason to back it off, if anything with the 370s you should have more bottom end which would help make up for the advanced timing.

Cummins Freak, if you want a severe kick from the 370s and what not, run stock timing, it will hit you hard, but you will have absolutely no fun at all when u get to 2200 rpms cause u will start to run out of fuel... Without a GSK, stock timing, and 370s, well u just aint gonna have any fun...

that comment was probably made because the piston bowl does not match the 370 spray pattern (it sprays outside of the bowl) so the higher you time it the more it is amplified. however it will still make power spraying out of the bowl it will just white smoke more when cold.
