How many ponies?
How many ponies?
OK...without a dyno...How many ponies will I have with this set up?...I need to start thinking about a clutch and need to be sure it'll hold. I was thinking around 400-480 hp to the ground. If this is the case, a 550 hp rated clutch would be enough.
TST powermax3 with competition download (180 hp gain), edge jammer 3's (100 hp gain), VanAaken (supposedly 60 hp max--timing box).
I am assuming these numbers are at the motor, not to the ground, and are theroetical, best case, under perfect conditions.
Waddya think?

I'll bet you wouldn't be over 380 HP without a turbo upgrade. If you ran a 62 series turbo, you could be well over 400 with that setup, maybe even 450 if your VP-44 is nearly new and fresh internally. If you want cheap power, you might as well get the Jammer 5 nozzles, Valair FE clutch, Holley Blue on stock harness with big line relocate kit, Used turbo as big as you can afford both in price and turbo lag. If you tow, you better not go over HTBG/ Super B/ S300 G 57-58 mm equivalent turbo. If you don't tow, you could get away with a 62/71 series turbo or bigger. Just depends on how much drivable power vs peak dyno power you want.
You haven't missed anything...I wanted to know where I would be with everyting installed. Including the sticks. I guess I'll need to find a dyno in the Spring/Houston area after everything is in. But I figured, to be on the safe side, a 500-550 hp clutch would be needed.
