I prefer the mechanical gauges for one reason. You can run either. I like the 270* sweep that a mechanical gauge gives you instead of the 90* sweet electrics have.

Gives me better resolution and you can see the gauge moving, like boost or temps, and you can see what's going on quicker.

Just my opinion.

On my old truck it had an ele. guage, I just backed out the sending unit, pulled the wires and screwed in the mechanical in the same place, both guages had same temp while towing, so its really personal choice.

For tranny temp I'd go electrical, I wouldn't want to plumb oil into the cab. After all, your EGT gauge is electrical too and actually I would think that a mechanical temp gauge wouldn't be as responsive as an electrical one because it takes time for the heat to go through the tubing and reach the gauge. For pressure, however, mechanical is the way to go.

hi
there would not be any oil in the cab even with a mecinal temp gauge as they use a capilary tube to transfur the readings .
however i use a electrical gauge for ease of instalation .
wires can go almost anywhere , capilary tube can not take sharp bends .
my electrical gauge <glow shift brand> is full 270 deg sweep!
i also have a choice of 7 colors of backlight and is well light !
