Help! Too many decisions to make!
I'm having a heck of a time here trying to decide what to do with upgrades. The funds are going to be available in about 2 weeks and I want to have everything lined up as to what I want to get.
First is gauges. It either going to be a Rod Pod or a pillar mount. I like the Autometer Ultralight series. Should I wait for Rod? The three gauges I want are egt, boost and fuel pressure. My plans are for one of the three Edge boxes. Do I need the 60 PSI or the 30 PSI boost gauge? Does anyone have a part number for the ultralight fuel pressure gauge? Should it be a 0-15 PSI? I have the pyro figured out. Should I get the banjo bolts with the port?
I think I'm going for the Banks Monster Exhaust 4" stainless system. This decision is based only on the price. It's the lowest priced stainless system I've seen. At the same time, I think the Pac-brake is next in line.
Now for the boxes. It's a new truck. I would like to maintain warranty status (I know, "I'm my own warranty station"
. Of the three Edge boxes, as I understand it, the Edge EZ is the easiest to remove when going in for warranty service. After I get over $500, the price difference for the three different choices make little difference. [undecided] I want some flexibility. The comp seems to give the most of that but what about removing it for warranty work? Is the Edge EZ Pulse just an upgrade of the Edge EZ with more options? Is it as easy to remove as the Edge EZ?
The idea of injectors crosses my mind from time to time but I think I'll see how my craving go for power after all of the above is done.
I need all the help I can get here. I'm going to be doing all the installations myself. On the mechanically inclined scale, I'm about an 8 on the 1-10 scale. I'm an electrical engineer by profession, so electronics and wiring aren't a problem. I would appreciate all the help I can get. The best teacher is experience and THAT is what is the best part about this site.

If I was you, I'd buy the Edge Comp for the box. Not much more $$ and if you don't tap the wire you get the same power as with the EZ. When your ready for more power, hook up that puppy and presto 80/90 more HP. You will be your own warranty station soon.

Keep in mind that Box+injectors(if over 2's)= clutch upgrade too!

Glenn

I'd heavily recommend higher flowing banjos, and if you've got a 2000 and up (sorry, didn't look at your sig), you'll need one tapped for a fuel pressure gauge.

[quote author=rattle_rattle link=board=7;threadid=6658;start=0#62566 date=1036541943]
flexibility. The Edge Pulse is still stocked by a number of outlets, even though Edge has stopped shipping it. If you're interested, I'll see if I can track one down -- I bought one (from Rod -- his last one, and at an excellent price) recently.

The Pulse is a Comp without the convenience. The Pulse has similar settings to the Comp, and the pump wire option, as well. The main difference is that the Pulse is set by taking the cover off and manipulating pins -- you can't adjust it in-cab, like the Comp. On the other hand, the Pulse looks like the EZ, mounts like the EZ, and leaves no permanent evidence, as long you don't pierce the pump wire. (I haven't.) I have mine cable tied to the fuse box. If I ever need to get it off, I can cut the cables in about two seconds and unplug it.

If the warranty issue doesn't bother you, get the Comp. If you want to pierce the pump wire before the warranty runs out, get the Comp -- the Pulse seems to me to be a way to take unfair advantage of DC, although we all know that DC sometimes lacks moral scruples,
. Of course, what you do is your affair.

The Pulse would be advantageous only if you can find it at a good price, and/or if you drive responsibly but you're still concerned about giving the dealer an excuse to void the warranty, and if you plan on pinning the pump wire at a later (out-of-warranty) date.

You'll want injectors. The real question is, how long will you hold out? I held out for exactly 44 days.

GP

You might want to look at the whole lift pump issue. Rather you want a "pusher" pump, or one that will take out the whole stock lift pump, and mount by the tank.
