Decisions, decisions.

First, thanks to everyone who helped me out with my wastegate actuator/AFC/smoke difficulties. I found much information in searches on the site and have a much better understanding of my Dodge.

Now the decision. One of the mechanics who worked on my truck had turned the starwheel up (more fuel) and that was causing excessive smoke. I have turned it down about 60 clicks and the smoke is nearly gone. So is all that wonderful low-rpm power. Instead a steady power build from idle on up it now starts building from about 1300 rpm with a real hit starting at 1700 rpm. So the decision is: more power & smoke, or less power and no smoke. For right now it's less power and no smoke. Does the 'more power' option run the danger of high EGT's? I've wanted a set of guages for a long time. This might be the best reason yet to get them.

Starwheel adjustment alone

will not really hurt your egts so badly, all they effect is the lower end fueling, now pushing your plate forward will more than likely hurt your egts more. It also depends how u drive ur truck as well, if you are hard on it all the time ur egts will suffer more, if not then no, i run mine full forward at the moment (to play around) and with a stock turbo my egts dont suffer too much if im easy on the right foot, if not, well its simply the inverse..
