Biggest Injectors in a Daily Driver
Biggest Injectors in a Daily Driver
Well guys since my truck didn't sell I mine as well get some bigger injectors. What do you guys recommend between bullybog and DD and what size for a daily driver. I have enough smoke now I don't want a ton more but I want more power forsure.
Re:Biggest Injectors in a Daily Driver
Opinions will vary greatly on this, but I would say that stage 3's are the practical limit. (Although I've been tempted to try super mentals.) I notice that both Bully Dog and DD make notations on stage 4 and above that saying something to the effect of "racing purposes only". My truck has had DD3's for over 2 years and I've never had an issue. Oil analysis always looks good. As for the brand, I would say both are good. BD's didn't exist when I got my DD's. I was however very impressed when I talked to Lawrence at DD before I bought mine. Well, there you go, my 2cents worth.

What we need to know is what do you use your truck for and how much power do you want..... Every owner is different on how they use their truck and to what degree they will sacrifice reliability for performance.

If you do not do much/any towing you can add larger injectors and not have any problems. As for how large, I see you are running an HX-40 now so you could easily go with Super Mentals or Bully Dog 5's. Larger than this and smoke will be an issue when off boost.

The problem I see for you is going to the 3's you only gain you 20 HP or so and it will give you much higher egt's. I have my opinion on the best street injector available and if you want to know what it is email me.

Doug

i have a friend with Bully Dog 5's and piers' HX-40. there's not a lot of smoke when he drives (or at least on the middle/top end). and nitrous...there's almost no smoke ;D
Re:Biggest Injectors in a Daily Driver
I run supermentals daily and don't have a smoke problem at all as long as I'm somewhat controlled with my right foot. It'll smoke pretty good off boost, but when spooled up I can only get a light gray haze. Perfectly streetable to me....

John

Tx, sounds like you have hard time with money. The only way I can relate is I pay, gas, insurance, cell phone, food, and anything I want to do to the truck. College and truck are paid for. I had saved up for the ATS TC, but dad made me take it back. Can't wait to get to college. FULL ATS tranny. ;D
Re:Biggest Injectors in a Daily Driver
some of the info above is very true...however if you live at altitude and in the hills / mountains of any kind then the DDIII's are still the better route IMHO....if your very rural and smoke is no biggie then go higher..same if your on flat land ...most of the guys that posted are flatlanders..don't know the country around Dougs area...

Second that. I'm in Nevada half the year and in the flatlands east of the Mississippi half the year, and the truck has different operating characteristics, no question, EGT's & smoke & response. 7000 ft. + elevation is a big reason why I've chosen to go a careful bombing route for the time being.

GP
