Help with high EGT’s

I have been searching and can’t really find a situation like I’m experiencing so I thought I’d try asking.

My son recently picked up a 2000 Ram that has been modified and the egt’s are too high. Here is a list of what has supposedly been done to it:

Edge Comp with stealth cover - confirmed
head fire ringed
head studs - confirmed
Industrial Injection +150 injectors
HRVP- I’m not too sure about this....
Fass 165 - confirmed
s300g on top - confirmed
s475 on bottom - confirmed
5in exhaust- confirmed
ATS three piece exhaust manifold - confirmed
boost gauge tapped into air horn - confirmed
auto trans
4.11 in the axles.

The truck idles at 225 degrees until you drop it in gear and it jumps to 450, with or without the comp on. Mashing the go pedal with the comp off it will climb to1,200, with the comp on 5x5 it will go to 1,500 in about 6 seconds. Boost tops out in about 3 seconds at 50psi.

We have checked for boost leaks and can’t find any and I wouldn’t think the mods (injectors and comp) would be too much for the compounds to cool.

Do these temps seem too high, and if so, where should we look to get them down.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like bad injectors to me, does the truck smoke a lot if you mash it? Still smoke at 50 psi boost?

And did you check the air filter?

Yes, the truck smokes heavily from the start (it will black out the road) but it cleans up to the point of very little, if any, smoke once the boost pressure is up.

As for the air filter, I experimented without the filter and got the same results.

OK, so I'd start going for a sub level with low fueling under low boost, to avoid the blacking out of the road.
The in gear EGT can be OK depending on the converter, if it's a low stall TC the high in gear idle EGT is OK.

With all that fuel you will need to get more air into the cylinders, so either up the boost again (not recommended) or go for a better camshaft and maybe work on the head too.

Hi, I had a severe temperature problem in my 97 . It had very hot floor boards in the passenger side. I had the hx 40 come with the truck. I replaced it with a brand new hx 35 in 2002 and rebuilt the engine. It still was freaky hot . So I took the compressor off my hx40, and put it on the front of the 35 . No more hot floorboard! Plus it is good for more hp. I told everyone at Cummins. Then people started making them , and calling the hybrid. 🤣😂 hope it helps? Check injection timing too
