has anyone fooled with removing a suspension lift?

Hey All,,,its been a while...I've transitioned to do alot more driving daily and I would like to remove my superlift 4" suspension. It was installed when I bought it so I obviously don't have any stock parts. Also I have just begun to investigate what is involved in installation and how reversible it is. Also if there is any welding or cutting involved in installing this lift that wouldn't be worth it to reverse?

I am about due for new tires...and I'm self-consciousness about the looks of my truck and with my 34.5" BFG AT's the tires look too small for the fender well. so if I'm to get some cheaper and more sensible tire it'd really look silly under this lifted truck?

Any ideas or suggestions...Or tire recommendations...

Anyone know of a good load-rated tire thats 35"?

I know its a ton of random questions...but I appreciate any help!

When I took the 5" off my 97' it sucked but I had welded the trac bar drop bracket (Bad idea scince I took it off).

HD 35" tire is the Toyo MT. Toyo is good, so they say-- and finding an E-rated 35" tire is pretty tricky..

Depending on what lift you have, the trac bar drop bracket is probably welded on.....my Superlift one is on mine! Other than that everything should be removeable......might be a pain in the rear but it should all come off.

The Toyo MT is by far my favorite tire on the market. I had 315/70/16's E rated on mine before I went to 38"s and LOVED them! They look very very nice, ride awesome and get pretty decent mileage out of them. I wanted 38"s in the same tire but at the time they were on national back order so I had to settle for Swampers.

Well I just checked out some toyo MT's and they do come in 10 ply Load rated in 35" but they are running 299 per tire! Great suggestion though b/c the original owner dummy put H2 Hummer 17" wheels on it. I don't like the looks of them and its harder to find tires!

My track bar is extended and it appears to be welded around the edges as well! Which this could concevibly be cut but whether the original hole that the track bar is pressed into is still tapered or what not!

I'm not going to go out and buy new parts to lower the truck but if someone wants to sell some good stock parts that will be cluttering up the garage I may consider it!

Another thing I noticed is my front axle is sitting a little to one side but straight I guess because the trackbar extension but that doesn't make sense?

Oh well. Just weight the options...I was looking for a stock truck...but found this one in better condition in my budget so I thought I'd just deal with the lift...but its getting old! (I've had my share of lifted trucks...But never had one as a daily driver!)

I found some and they where about $100.00 less per tire then quoted above. See my sig. I got about 25,000 miles on them now and though I have been to lazy to rotate them they still look great.

Just noticed you have H2s, the Hankooks are available in a load range E 17" also but I don't know the price difference from my 16s.

Just took the Skyjunker 4.5" kit off my truck last weekend. Came off without any problems. I didn't go back to stock I installed a system from Carli Suspension. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet because my truck is going through a fairly major transition right now. New Southbend Clutch, Carli Suspension and a service body all getting installed at the same time by a buddy and myself. Everything is done except the final touches on the bed and putting the shifters and center console back.

I'm back...Last time I found a GREAT deal on BFG take-offs so I just bought another set of tires and thought I'd wait till they were gone to address the lift...Well that time has come. I've done more research than I did in the past.

I want to go Leveled My thoughts:

a) springs: So I think what I need is OEM springs and spacer but if I have to buy..just buy 2" front springs.

b) control arms: Top skyjacker is ~17" from bolt to bolt and lower is ~19.25" bolt to bolt but there is a relocation bracket on the top...I don't know what stock length is so just remove bracket and find stock length or if I can use these without the bracket for 2" of lift? (see pic below)

c)sway bar links: I'll need new shorter links:

d) OEM pitman arm: needed

e)I need to address Trackbar and steering linkages anyway. will get the >98 steering and cut drop bracket for trackbar and new trackbar will need its own bracket to adapt the upgraded one

f) rear: (see pic below) Being as the lift came on the truck I don't know what is stock or what is added. any input on what to remove on the rear to make it stock height? I was told somewhere that the block is OEM and that it may just be one overload spring and possibly longer U-Bolts but I want to verify that, seems like alot on the rear.
