Re:governor spring kit ??

Yes, Piers sells them as does TST. They should all be pretty much the same as long as your not comparing a 3K to a 4K kit...

www.piersdiesel.com
www.tstproducts.com

Re:governor spring kit ??

The 3k kit is $150 ans so is the 4k kit.
But with the 4k kit the valve springs have to be changed also.
That will cost ya another $110 from Piers.
IMO go with the 4k kit. I love mine and if yer like me the 3k kit will just leave ya wanting more.
Its just like the rest of the bombing.
Ya Always Want More. ;D

: Eddie : 8)

Re:governor spring kit ??

Just need a good valve spring compresser and maybe a new set of valve cover gaskets if your havent been replaced in a while.
Of course you need to have the know how to adjust the valves also.
It takes a while cyl. #'s 5~6 are tight to get into.
If you do be sure to NOT drop a valve down on to the piston.
It's not as bad as it sounds if you are mech. inclined.

: Eddie : 8)

Re:governor spring kit ??

I have the 4k kit but have not put the HD valve prings in yet. I have done a lot to the truck and have done most of my work on all my trucks. I'm a lil afraid to risk putting the springs in because I do not want to drop a valve down into the engine. I have asked around and have yet to find any really good directions on how to do it. Piers said they would send me directions but I have yet to get them. going to call again tomarrow.
DM01
PS go 4k
Re:governor spring kit ??

havent opened a Cummins but i would think it should be easy to do the valve springs. A gasser requires the use of compressed air in tothe spark plug hole to keep the valve up. If u do them with the head on. Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong but im willing to bet that there in no dish in the piston to speak of and that the pistion is within a few thousanths of the head when it is up top so all that is necessary would be to do each cylinder witht the piston up top.

Personally, I wouldn't want to rotate the engine by hand.
