gound the fuel plate and corked the turbo
i cut the hose to the waste gate and put a bolt with a hose clamp on it. that made the turbo hit a lot quicker. sorta felt a bit sporty. then i pulled the cam/fuel plate out, looked at it for a while, drew some patterns on it...then said screw it! i ended up grinding it flat. all i wanted was just a bit more get up and go so i figured if i kept my foot out of it i'll be okay with a stock tranny.
couple questions though.
how much power is the 0 plate suppose to give you? those charts on tst's web page don't make sense to me.
and how fast do the egt's go up? i don't pull very many things. ...speaking of that, if'n i do tow something, lets say 10klbs, about how much thotle can the tranny take with the 0 plate? i'm thinking as long as the temps don't go up i should be okay.
i put the plate and the afc housing back in its stock location. i should have bumped them forward.
...oh and the chisle on the tamper proof bolt worked the best. i tried every other trick i read about.
i should have done this a long time ago because it was way too easy to do.

it looks like guages are going to be the first thing i actually buy for the truck. i was going to buy a bigger sewer pipe but heck i really don't need it yet. maybe in the sping/summer when the weather heats up so i can keep my egt's down. i'll be pulling a travel trailer then. i can't wait for the first hill. <sigh>
i really don't drive it hard. i just commute 100 miles or so a day for work. i really just wanted some passing power...boy, let me tell ya, i sure got it!

with a zero plate, and no guages, and a stock tranny, your just beggin for trouble........... definitly get the guages, then depending on how soon you want to put a new tranny in, I would keep the 0 plate, in the toolbox in your garage and find a milder plate, otherwise, shes gonna go poof!, the 3 guages you need ,
1. pyro, since your running the wastegate pluged, and a 0 plate giving you extreme fueling, your EGTs are gonna be up there!
2., boost, just go ahead and buy a 0-60 lbs guage, because you can and will se more then 40 psi on your stock hx-35 {35psi is about max for map range, much over that, and your pushing more hot air then cold air}, 50-55+psi, has been well known to pop head gaskets,
3. tranny temp- you need this one, so you see how hot your tranny temp gets right before she pops!!!!!, and with that 0 plate, it will!
TIME FOR a Goerend Tranny!!!lol

Deffinately get gauges, with my #100 plate set 3/4 forward and NO load at all i can get to 1300* in 3rd and 1550* in 4th and 5th and I have the rest of my pump setup pretty conservative. If you keep that plate in there deffinately pull it to the rear of the engine a good amount, once you have gauges then you can start toying with it and seeing what everything can take.
even tho i have the 0 plate in there i still don't have the power like a '05 or later truck. heck the '05 ford truck at work is still quicker than what i have. how much power should i have? the plate and afc housing and screw is in the stock location and i'm not getting much smoke out the back end when i get on it. and would the temps climb fast even if i just put-put around town and cruize 75 on the freeway? i sorta drive like grandpa, slow and go. i just didn't like it being so sluggish off the line.

95 auto has the small injection pump. If your going to race you need to find you a 215 off a 96,97,98 manuel truck. You can build your IP to make good power but it may be cheaper to just get the 215.

Get a Decently built transmission under there and i think you will be pleasantly surprised.
If you want the power of the 05, you need the governor spring kit. Your governor is backing out at 2500 Rpm where the 05 will spin to 3300rpm. So it will feel like more.
With a zero plate you will toast the tranny. High torque + low RPM = Burnt clutches. Not enough line pressure to hold the power down low..
oh and GET GAUGES!!

okay, okay...i'll get gauges. i feel like a kid being scolded.
as well i should be i guess for screwin around with my truck. i just wanted a bit more power...that doesn't mean i'll actually use it all. the 0 plate profile was just the easiest one to grind.
...so you think i'll burn my tranny up even if i don't hot rod it?

Dont think of it as scolding, think of it as Someone looking out for your best interests,or your investments, you stuck a good amount of money into buying that truck, why take a chance at messing it up??
