Going Goerend!

About to pull the trigger with Goerend. Trans, Trip disc , billet input and flexplate. Anything else I need to do while R & R ing the trans ? I am contemplating dumping the column shifter in favor of something along the lines of a ratchet shifter for more fun. Anyone ever do something like this? My gears are turnin'...lol

I'd say not on the customer service. I bought one of his valve bodies and it was the worst thing I have ever spent money on. I have spent several hours on the phone with him trying to trouble shoot or figure out a solution and he just tells me it is what it is and deal with it.

Gotta be asking something of it that isn't possible then. Dave has been on the phone with me, sent emails, etc, helping me diagnose when Brownies TC went, knowing I wasn't going to buy a trick converter. He even advised me against his VB unless I put a new band strut in.

I've always had really good customer service with him. When i bought my first valve body from him I broke the snap ring that holds the one plunger in place. He sent me a new ring and the proper tool for installing it at no charge. I just had to ship the tool back to him when I was done with it. He was also great with my new tranny I bought this year. Drove 14 hours to get it installed.

I've only got the basic build trans for towing, but if you fill out Dave's sheet correctly and you want neck snapping shifts, the advantage a ratchet shifter will give you is consistency if you are drag racing. Used to have one when I drag raced and loved it. Might have trouble finding one tall enough for the truck, but would be a neat add-on. BTW - I'm a fan of Goerend. I love mine!

I bought a used Goerend trans / triple disc TC that was built in 2006.
It had roughly 30,000 miles on it when installed in my truck.

Incredible difference over the stock. Best modification I've done to the truck so far. Hands down, no doubt about it.

I ordered the trans last night. Billet input, 1st gear lock up, 15 blade triple disc converter. I plan to fab a pedestal of some sort to raise the shifter up to where it needs to be. B&M Pro ratchet. It's gonna be neat. I can't wait to get everything installed!

Somehow I find that hard to believe, Dave has spent endless hours on the phone with people who don't even have his products in their trucks. So what is wrong with the VB?

Replace the rear main seal while the transmission is out. I bought my current tow rig from a buddy of mine who had the trans completely gone through last year without replacing the rear main seal. Now it has a consistant (not huge) leak, and the WHOLE thing has to come out to replace the seal.

Cheap insurance especially on a older truck.
