I have a stock truck and want to add gauges to monitor pyro, boost, and fuel pressure. I also want to restore some of my bottom end performance that I lost from going to a larger tire.

Should I go with analouge gauges and a smarty, or something like an Edge with Attitude? The tire conversion is a nice feature of the smarty, but I know I'm off by 7.5% and it's not a big deal to me. I want to get the most value for the money and also get better fuel mileage. I will not be upgrading my auto for the time being or my fuel system, but I am very good at keeping my foot out of it. I only need the the power occasionally for short towing of lighter loads and acceleration when pulling into traffic.

What would you get? Please provide any links to the products.

 

while I prefer mechanical analog gauges, it is tough to argue against the edge juice/attitude... especially if you plan on keeping the truck relatively tame.

if you're planning on going all out, get the gauges, get the smarty, and keep going from there

if you're lookign for some nice gains and a great bang for the buck, the edge is nice because you don't have to buy gauges and a pillar mount... just plug and play and you've got your gauges built in

 

If you only want to restore and not build mad horsepower, go with a power puck (Diablo Sport) and analog gauges, should be a reasonable package. Unfortunately this package will not readjust your tires.

 

Juice/Attitude = $800ish

Power Puck = $500ish
Boost/Pyro/tranny gauges and piller = $300ish

the Edge is an easier install and offers more performance... no brainer IMO

 

Thank's Forrest. I'll most likely go with the Juice/Attitude now. Does it come with everything needed to hook up the gauges? Specifically, does it include the components needed to monitor fuel pressure?

it does, it's a really nice setup! heck, I didn't even think about the fuel pressure gauge... make that $400+ for gauges!

I still think it's a no-brainer though for what you get for the money. FWIW, my buddy got his box on ebay for like $700, I figured $800 was retail

 

I payed 589.$ for my edge juice/attitude, and I love it. Even on the mileage setting it runs alot stronger.
Plus, you eliminate all the dumb view obstructing gauges. Don't understand how some of ya'll like having gauges all over the inside of the cab.
Maybe one or two wouldn't look bad tucked away somewhere, but the juice monitors alot more, and has alot of nice features.

The very thing that makes the Juice with Attitude very attractive--the fact that its an "all in one" box--is the very same weakness that some of us want to avoid. Unlike a set of gauges that are completely stand alone and independent, the Juice gets most of its inputs from the truck's PCM or its own sending units. That means if you have a problem with the PCM, a sending unit, or the Juice itself, then you loose all your readouts. With a (mechanical) set of gauges, if something seems out of the normal with one gauge, you still have the others to back you up. There is a thread here about a guy who lost an oil pressure sensor, so his gauge went out, and his Juice also went out, so now he has no idea what his oil pressure is. I have a mechanical fuel pressure gauge with a warning light. If I have a problem with my fuel pressure, which has happened, I know for sure its not the sending unit, because I don't have one. Not trying to say the Juice is a bad box, its not, in fact I may get one some day, especially for the turbo timer feature, I really like that. However, a full set of gauges is still the most reliable way to monitor your engine.

The 500 you quoted is MSRP, no one will pay that.
