Re:Gauges

I bought mine before the EV series came out. The EGT is a little dim, but they take one (1) 194 bulb. You can go to the 168 which is the same size, but brighter. On the boost and trans temp, they use 2 little bulbs. About 1/5 the size of the 194.
Have to check a parts store to see if they carry these little ones.

Crobtex- I meant what kind of bulbs are in the gauges that you have?

Re:Gauges

Sorry, I don't have any idea. Chace at WTTD put them in for me a couple of weeks ago. I looked at the info pages that came with them, but it didn't list a bulb type. I don't know how hard it is to remove them from the pillar, but tomorrow I will try to find out and let you know.

Re:Gauges

The gauges are just friction fitted into the pillar. They will slide out if you twist them a LITTLE back and forth.

Do you have a FP gauge?

Re:Gauges

The Di-Pricol Fuel Pressure guage isolator was redisigned recently. That is the only item I have heard of concerning availability. I orderd my set last spring and had to wait until fall to get it.

Re:Gauges

I'll check the bulb in the morning.

I have a fitting on the fuel filter that I hook a gauge up to when I want to check the pressure. It has about a four foot hose that allows it to lay up by the wiper when you close the hood. You crank it up and drive around the block to make sure everything in ok. I'll check it at each filter change and sometimes for the heck-of-it. I didn't go with the gauge on the pillar for two reasons: #1 money #2 I didn't want to take a chance of having diesel smell in the truck. I also got that from Chace at WTTD.

CR,

I suspect you are right. They live outside. I've never heard of Texas temperatures gettin' 40 below.

Dang it, now my wife has yet another horsey site to look at! Geez, I never see her now, she's off with her horse all the time fussing over him. Nice horses. She's a quarter horse girl. A one horse quarter horse girl despite the fact she's trying to become a freaking 2 horse girl. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

I would understand about the longjohns and such...I will tell you it was 72 today!!

Re:Gauges

I did a guage package from West Texas Turbo, A Pillar painted to match, the isspro's E-V series with boost, tranny temp, and EGT. Chase sold me the whole package for 300.00. Fit very well, was easy to install, and looks great. I highly recommend Chase, he is a great guy and very helpful. Check out his web site, www.westtexasturbodiesel.com

What he said. I got mine from Chase also. He did a great job of matching the paint and everthing needed to install them was in the box. Good customer service.

Re:Gauges

I'm in the process of installing mine and I'm wondering what (if anything) to use on the threads of the FP guage, lines and etc. Oh yeah, do I need some kind of restrictor to lower the fuel volume so it won't pulse the guage? I am going with a mechanical btw.

Re:Gauges

If you're using AN fittings, don't use any sealant.
For NPT treaded fittings, use Teflon pipe dope or a diesel rated permatex sealer.
Do Not Use Teflon Tape.
Even a sliver of it gets in the pump and it's gonna be big $$$.
I use a $4 needle valve to keep the gauge from buzzing due to the injector pump pulses.
Just close it down all the way, then have someone watch the gauge as you sloooooowly open the valve until you get a good reading, then shut the engine down to make sure the pressure bleeds off quickly.
Then restart to make sure the pressure builds quickly.
It only take a couple of minutes to get it set.

Re:Gauges

thanks Ed, great info!! I knew not to use tape on the A N fittings but I would have probably used it on the needle valve.

Re:Gauges

10HAAP,

The wires on my pyro were too short to get it all the way out, and I didn't have time to pull the pillar.

I'll try again when I get a chance or you might try ISSPRO at
(888) 447-7776.
