Exhaust temp ( EGT ) and boost are a good place to start. If I was you I'd just get an Edge with attitude or Quad with adrenaline, their monitors make keep everything in check a breeze.

Fuel pressure, EGT, Boost, Tranny temp. Ditto on the Edge Juice with Attitude (it gives you EVERYTHING plus alerts and defueling points so you don't smoke your engine)....

Mine had about 205,000 miles before I put the Edge on. If your truck is running fine then putting the Edge on is okay, I believe. Once you put it on, be ready to want to go faster, though. And then the money really starts to bleed....

Remember you don't have to use the full power of the edge, it has 5 power options from mileage to extreme. I leave mine on 3 which is an ideal +80 HP setting most of the time due to clutch slippage. Remember to get some sort of fuel system upgrade before you tune too much or you'll lose the IP. Fuel pressure gauge monitor comes standard with the edge with attitude. I'd consider it before injectors.
