tie rod ends

I believe full hydro steering is against the law on street trucks--

you can do hydro assist steering which is quite impressive(I have it)--

you need a special power steering box that has ports for a ram that's installed where you put a stabilizer--you need to beef the mount up and weld two tabs to the tie rod for the ram to mount to--chris

I looked in all the law stuff and couldn't find anything about hydraulic steering being illegal, or anything that they could use to make it illegal, all I could find is that the steering has to be in sound working condition and mechanically safe. So as long as the cylinder is not zip tied or duct taped to the axle or somethin, I think it would be ok, legally.

The reason full hydraulic is illegal is because it's very difficult to steer if the engine should die. That's why you only see it on offroaders.

With full hydraulic steering, what happens if you have a flud or power loss? No steering. An accumulator might buy you some time in the event of the power loss though. I think this is one of the reasons it's against the law. Maybe contact the SAE for standards.

I wouldn't run FULL Hydro on the street just because of Failure issues.

But Hydro Assit would be nice for sure.

I would like to that my self, 38" PJ's are a bear to deal with

I don't really see how it could be unsafe if done correctly. I mean all those cherry pickers are all hydraulic, and they lift people up X amount of feet into the air, if something broke or was unreliable on those, I don't think it would feel too good to fall that far.

All the cheery pickers I've dealt with stay in place if something fails. In fact you have to go though a set procedure to let someone down if the there is a failure.
