fuel pressure guage
Re:fuel pressure guage
Since you will be putting the fuel psi gauge on a 12v. You might have problems with pressure spikes and premature failure of the fuel pressure gauge. This is due in part to the 12v's piston transfer pump (lift pump). It does not supply a constant psi since it rides on the cam lobe. I would put it at the outlet banjo of the filter. This is the banjo bolt on top of the filter closest to the front of the engine.
Re:fuel pressure guage
A 12 valve Cummins is a tough one to get a guage to work with because of the surging of the transfer pump.

Cummins sells a replacement adaptor just for the attachment of a fuel pressure guage. It replaces the banjo bolt at the union of the fuel feed line to the injection pump. Then attach at least 18" of high pressure hose (high pressure grease gun hose will work) between the adaptor and the sender to your guage.

If the guage sets there and bounces, you will need to install an adjustable orifice in between the hose and the adaptor. Then keep turning down the oriface size until the fuel pressure appears to hold steady and the needle vibration stops.

I cut the supply line to the pump and installed a Tee in the line and then installed a snubber valve ( the same type of valve used for shut off on ice makers ect.) and ran braided hose to the gauge. All of this is available at Home Depot, Lowes or ? hardware store.
Bruce
