Fuel pressure gauge

Why is there such a huge price difference in fp gauges. Within autometers phantom line there was one for like 50 and then one for like 200. Does the cheaper one require more parts or something. I couldn't figure out what I needed to order. I know i need the banjo bolt but other than that im lost ha. Any help would be appreciated. Buy the cheap one or the expensive one?

the more expensive gauges are usually the electric models. complete with sending unit.

I can fab up a mechanical gauge, with live fuel, for less than 20 bucks CDN.

For the same setup in electric, even going with the lowest prices found, I was at 115 CDN give or take a bit.

Wait what... Over my head there. Im assuming CDN=Canadian. And to fab up the mechanical one would you just have to run a nylon tube to it like a mechanical boost gage would it have to be steel braided.

I have stainless braided line running to mine. Its a Isspro 0-30 PSI gauge, you can find them for about 60.00 USD I believe + the stainless line. I cant bring myself to spending hundreds of dollars for an electric gauge...

I run a T fitting between my stock fuel filter and injection pump. this is 3/8 id. this is rubber fuel line. goes to a needle valve to the isolator that I bought to seperate fuel going into my cab. back side of isolator is the clear nylon tubing to the cab and back of gauge. I could post pics for you if needed.

good source for fittings or ideas of fittings

I use greasegun extension lines, needle valve and a 0-30 psi US Gage gauge.
Pics in my gallery.
Was connected to the Schrader Valve on the injector pump but now it's connected at the fuel filter outlet with a Vulcan Big Line fitting.

Ok cool. That is what I will do then. I have the idiot 5 psi warning light on the truck now. I put it on there shortly after buying the truck before i new anything about it or even joined this forum. Waste of money. So now im puting a gauge on it cause im thinking about switching to a comp box soon.

Good plan. You need a tapped Banjo bolt, some fittings, a needle valve, and some line.

Take your time and do it right - fuel leaking in the cab would make for a bad day. Also, protect the line where it passes through the grommot to go into the cab (a chunk of some sort of hose or tubing should do the trick).
