o-rinds and fire rings

when does it become neccesary to do them if I just plan on getting 100 hp injectors and a little bigger turbo running around 35-40 psi and maybe stack a smarty with what I have already will I need to do them or could I just get away with just doing head studs.

If you want the best just get o-ringed, .20 cummins marine gasket and the ARP 625 studs tq'd down to 155 foot pounds.

you may be running 35-40 psi now, but wouldn't it be nice to run up to 80 and not blow a gasket if you get a bigger charger later?

Yeah I wouldn't bother taking the head off either with those mods. I'd probably just retorque the stock headbolts to 105 tq. Or you can just throw on the headstuds.

For your set up I'd just leave it alone.

I've been running 55psi w/twins all summer and ALL stock head/bolts/gasket! I know its a time bomb and I need to upgrade because I WILL be going to 70+psi soon. If you wont be going over 45psi and drive pressures and timing arent crazy it should be fine. Once you disturb the HG you may need to pull the head.

it may not be broke now but once you pop the gasket you'll blow all the oil in your engine into the coolant and let me tell you from experience that is no fun at all. A real mess to get cleaned up
