fuel plate

Ok i have a stock 95 12 valve it is a farm truck and does a lot of towing not to heavy but enough to make it struggle. I have been hearing a lot about the fuel plate, can i slide it forward just to gain maybe 20-30 horse and not damage my tranny or grind the plate. the truck is babied and with 50k the tranny is still like new so i dont want to make it slip....i do not drive hard so even with a little more power i wouldnt make it slip. can it be slid a little and how do you do it?

Is it an auto or 5sp? Moving the stock plate up is just fine, enlongate the holes where the bolt goes in to hold it down so you can slide it up more though.

When you look at the plate after you pull the AFC housing off there are two screws that hold it in position, the holes in the plate are obb-long so it can slide farther forward. Just drill these slots so they are longer and you can slide the plate farther forward. You don't have to do that but it helps...

Man you have a gem with only 54,000 miles!!!!

If you can find someone that is upgrading injectors on a 96-98 12v their stock injectors are an upgrade to ours we have 160 hrs and they have 215 (if its a 5spd truck) I would say that would be pretty cheap to do as well *** smoothing out the fuel plate

I slid the plate foreward and cranked the star screw as far as I could and yes, it smoked. alot. Been playing with the start scew and got the smoke off idle under control but it will still leave some pretty good trails when I romp it with 0 boost. If your gonna play with the plate tho, at least get pyro. Pulling a 3000# boat over Vail pass, I could easily bury pyro at 1600 and without the gauge's I am confided I would have left Cummins parts all over I-70. Once I get my new clutch in I have a plate ground and ready...
