Front Axle alignment w new Thuren trac-bar..

Need some advice...

Should be receiving my new Thuren adjustable trac bar real soon.

Since my addition of Skyjacker D25's my axle has been pushed 1" over and I need to know if I can roughly align it myself using the adjustment on the tracbar?

If so...what point of reference should be used?

Also what type and where to get bushings for my sway bar?

Any Austin Tx members have any recomendations on alignment shops in/around Austin?

Thanks,

Kirk

what I did with mine is measure from the center of the tire to the frame on one side then go to the other side and do the same. you can get it pretty close to center that way.

Same here.....poly sway bar bushings are available at any off road outfit. As for alignment, find a shop that will align to your specs, not just set it within factory tolerances. Factory specs are way too broad.....

I set mine to 3.2*L, 3.5*R caster, .3 cross caster, 0-.1* toe, 0* +/- .1 camber. You can find the whole alignment procedure over at dodgeram.org.

Thanks!-Is that all I need to do to align the axle is adjust the track-bar?

Do most alignment shops align the axle as part of the alignment w/out charging more?

If you're talking about centering the axle, probably not. The factory track bar isn't adjustable, so it's not a normal alignment adjustment. Typically they will only set caster and toe. Camber is also an extra because it requires an aftermarket alignment cam in the upper ball joint.....but the alignment cam is the only proper way to get cross caster.

Theres a Youngbloods Tire n Auto that might be a good spot to try. they're located off 1325/mopac just west of 35. they're right behind a sprint store over there so you really gotta look for'm. DON'T TAKE IT TO PURCELL!!! they really jacked up my ball joints that i had done there a year ago. I had to show up and tell them how to get the hub off!!! Youngbloods seems to be a good shop, they do a lot of work on big trucks. Good luck and let me know where you take it i need mine done when i get home. How do you like your new unit?? Where'd you get it?? Price good??

alignment

I had it aligned by Speedy Align on Oltorf and Congress, still have the balance issue to deal with. I am replacing my badly worn rotors and hoping that this may improve the balance...if not I am really lost with this and am fed up with it!

Track bar seem ok at the time being!
