Thuren trac bar

I installed thuren's adjustable trac bar recently, and ever since have had a popping sound while turning at slow speed. everything is tight and torqued to 150 ft/lbs per the instructions. Anyone else have this problem?

W/ your 2" leveling kit. Did you adjust it to 39"? Usually a popping noise w/ the trac bar is a result of not tightening it enough. Even though you TQ'ed it 150lbs. Crank on it as tight as you can.

You can also check your end links. They make a popping noise also when bad/bent. When you installed your trac bar and recentered your axle from side to side. It may have exposed a bad end link you may have had for a while.

Thanks for the reply, I have been under the truck while someone turns the steering for me. It is coming from the end of the trac bar that has the heim link in it.

Give Don a call. He will be the best option to get it corrected (he would probably tell what's wrong in 2 sec when describing the noise/location).

Take if off and reinstall it. Also inspect it when it's out.

Take you only a few minutes.

Check the lower shock mounting bolts (front end) and torque them down hard!

I had the same issue after installing my Thuren trac bar. I contacted Don, and he said crank it down more. I used a cheater bar and got a little more out of it than the 150 ft lbs reccommended. No more popping from trac bar.

Good luck,

Boris

the bars cost close to $300 w/USA shipping when i bought mine.
Don is going to tell you to tighten it more. I don't have much here in the way of large metric sockets soi had to take mine to the local front end place for an alignment anyway so i had them do it and it has not made another noise since. BTW it did HELP with my death wobble if thats what you are using it for. crossy

I believe it is Thurenfabrication.com , I would say give him a call or PM (ThurenFab.) him with your zip code for pricing... sometimes he takes some time with PM's, he is a busy person and gets lots of questions...

Success

I went and got a new bolt and torqued the Snot out of it.....seems to be working for now. I bought mine through "defianttruckproducts.com" Don supplies the track bars for them, and he said I could get it sooner by ordering from them. He also has his own website "thurenfabrication.com"

Thuren or Solid Steel?

I just bought a 98.5 and it wander a lot on the road so I've been reading a lot to find what's the best solution to fix this.
Should I change only the Trac Bar with a Thuren or should I install the complete kit from Solid Steel (Stabilizer kit, Trac Bar and conversion kit)?
Is the Thuren trac bar enough?

I'd buy Don's track bar. If you ever held one in your hands you'd know why I recommend them, especially for the 2nd gen trucks. If that doesn't stop your death wobble them get the sector shaft support.

Leave a message and Don will get back to you pretty quickly. He's usually in the shop working and can't pick up the phone when it rings. But he does get back to you quickly.
