Unhappy FASS loud, and trouble priming

Tried to change my filter today to a 3 micron and the threads where buggered on the filter anyway that wasn't my problem. When installing the original fass filter back on I filled up the filter with #2 and bumped the starter 5-6 times highest psi I got was 5 psi. The pump sounds like it has a bearing gone? People walking by the back of my garage where giving me all kinds of looks as the thing sounds terrible, I never noticed it with the truck running the last few weeks. The only way I got it primed was to start the truck and pressure the air tank with a air hose. It seems to have the usual 21 psi but after I shut down the truck the 21 psi stay there even after 10-15 minutes +.

Any thoughts this pump is less than a year old Just when I though I had this fuel pressure thing licked

Jason

OK so I did somer reading and the loud noise may be from pump cavitation... but why is the psi needle at 21 psi even after 12 hours, I don't remember it doing this before.

Check out the trouble shooting manual in my sig. This will give you a good test for Cavitation. That would cause hard primes and such...and make tons of noise. If you had a bearing failing in the motor, it would be VERY noticeable...would sound like the motor is grinding rocks. Noise will be located more in the Fnt side (End where the wires go in) of the motor. Cavitation doesn’t have a grinding noise...more like a whooshing noise. Contact your selling dealer for some options......

As for your pressure, where are you taking your pressure reading? This is odd because a restriction is needed to make pressure. SO what this is telling us is that something is not bypassing fuel in your injection pump or filter head (IF you are using this). OR your gauge is giving false readings....we see this more than anything. You have an isolator? I would bypass that and see if your pressure remains after shut down.........

pressure is being read at the bottom of the stock filter canister (use it for warming fuel in the winter), as soon as I turn the key the pressure drops to zero and then once the truck starts it is back up to normal pressure again.

This is normal......it bumps the FASS for about 1/2 a sec......then when cranking it reduces the duty cycle of the pump to 25% by pulsating it. Then when the engine catches, and higher RPM is detected, it runs the pump at 100% duty cycle......

Have you changed your stock filter in the recent past?

Yeah, I did see the 06 with the Kore suspension....that will be quite some machine

Greenworks - it was very good event (at least bt Canadian standards). There was a guy from Dawson Creek with a p-pumped 24V - he ran 10.68 seconds @ 130 mph. Also, Mad Dog was there with his Ford Crew Cab 12V.
