Re:FASS filtration system
Haulin',
Sorry about taking so long to get back. I used the stock lift pump plug-in position for my FASS system. I haven't experienced any problems.
As for pressures, my FASS came with what was suppose to be a 24lb spring on the bypass. My first ISSPRO 30lb fuel pressure guage broke and I had to replace it. My next guage was also 30lb. and pressures were pegged at 30lbs. I have driven the truck in excess of 3,000 miles with the broken guage with no ill effects and decided to adjust the spring to lower the pressure. My pressure is now about 25.5psi at idle and about 21.5psi at WOT with my setup. Before, I had the stock lift pump and the Stanadyne pusher setup and was 20psi at idle and 0 at WOT. The FASS system has proven to me that it is a strong performer for now and only time will tell.
Best of luck with the new pump.
Best regards,
Meacham Evins

Re:FASS filtration system
Has anyone thought about using a 2 micron filter instead of the 10 micron filter? If this is a thought, wouldn't it be good to put the 2 micron filter in before changing/cutting the spring?
Just a thought....

Haulin',
I cut the spring. I cut about 1/2 twist off at a time and tested it. When I was finished there was about 1/3rd of the spring missing. I just made sure there was still pressure when the fitting was screwed in. The idle pressure is 26 to 27 psi and now that my needle on my Fuel pressure guage isn't pegged, I am seeing the fluctuation that Doug told you about coming from the ECM. I guess I need a relay.
James- That may be a great idea using the 2 micron filter. My d#$% spring is already cut. Maybe later!

Meacham the regulator gives you some slow pulsation as it opens and closes. May not be the voltage. If you want he relay I can give you a diagram for it and the relay can come from an autoparts.

Re:FASS filtration system
Stupid question, maybe, but is there anything like a checkball in the FASS? Something that could get hammered by pulses back and forth in the line, which is one of the primary reasons why the original lift pump fails?

the regulator consists of a rubber ball about the size of a marble with a spring behind it. It takes less than ten minutes to pull it and put it back together. It is on the tank side of the microglass filter.

Give me a day or so, my scanner is down so I will do it in word, very simple.

Re:FASS filtration system
Well I guess that I will leave the fuel pressure at the latest setting. It has 15 idle, sometimes just a little shy but not down to 14 1/2, it stays there almost all of the time, under the worst high rev wot is will only dip to a hair less than 14. It operates well, have had no problems at all. Noticed a couple of things different though over the stock system. At night wound up at wot I now get some good haze in the headlights of the cars behind me, never had that. Also playing with the fuel pressure, mine starts just fine but the lower pressure it starts a couple of revs sooner. The higher the pressure, even with the pump off in start position, the less immediate the starting.
The haze says to me that I am getting all the fuel that the air system can handle. It also says that the stock fuel system will not support the EZ and 275's.
My mileage has a slight increase overall and the low end torque is improved. Bear in mind that this is compaired to the completely stock system.
My last post on this, installed, working well, proper fuel pressures. No problems.
