FASS and cold weather???
FASS and cold weather???
It was 8 deg this morning.I went out to start my gasser and it wouldn't. So went to the dodge (hasn't been pluged in or started in two days). Tried for the first Wait To Start lite to go out it rumbled than died. I turned the key off than tried to pump the starter to get the FASS to run but nothing. This is what I am wondering about. I have bumped and run the FASS before and it ran is it different when it is cold?
The truck did start the second time and pressure was the normal 14 psi.
Thanks
Rich

Everything worked fine after it started. Today I did the same thing. Stalled first time but the pump ran this time and than she lit off the second time with pump still running.

Problem???? Maybe
Have a 2014 ram 2500 that I bought and has fass fuel system and it's been 60 to 70 degrees last few weeks and now it's 30s and 20s yesterday and today. This morning went to start truck but can't hear the whine I always hear from the fass and didn't say the normal wait while fuel heating in process ECT but truck started and ran fine. I don't have a tuner to see any fuel pressure or any of that but can see temps and trans temp, oil psi ECT ...the normal ones and oddly when I started the truck this morning in 20 degree weather my temp said coolant was at 100 and oil at 104 but truck hadn't ran for about 8 hours. Is their something wrong with fass system? I'm not sure and I'm nervous about it even though it runs fine I'm just worried something catastrophic is about to happen that I can't afford to mess with right now
If you don't hear the whine of the motor running, I would be worried that is NOT running.
Personally I would check the FASS is working before driving the truck at all, as you risk killing the injection pump without the LP working.
A 1200# motor holding heat for hours sounds pretty standard to me.

8°? Try -25° sometime. Not unusual for mine to "false start" the first try, but the pump always does the initial prime cycle. I have the FASS 95 adjustable. When mine doesn't prime run, the culprit is always the wires at the battery.

It didn't seem like it was down on power or anything but I remembered my old dodge could run diagnostics by turning key on and off three times but not start and get codes which, I didn't have any dash light warnings or anything just figured I'd try and I did that and immediately brrrrnnnnnnnnnn.....FASS pump going to work. Hasn't done it again and not sure if that flashed computer since I don't have tuner screen and heck I do have 5 on the fly but it stays on one and never moved it ever so I'm not sure what I did but it did the trick

Yeah cold days 20-30 min warm up and warm/hot Texas days I still let it warm up 15min at least make sure everything is lubed ECT and if any small problems that can poke their head out and cause major problems will hopefully show themselves in that time before driving and can be fixed. I spent 13 years in the Army and got so used to checking everything before every day of getting in it and has been a money saving habit for sure but this one baffled me a bit but is fine now
