External wg question

I have been searching for external wgs lately I found a bunch on ebay like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

What do I need to look for when buying a wg? Oh yeah this is for twins setup 34/40 ht3b.

Thanks

don't buy a cheap knock-off like that.

I'm using a Tial 38mm on mine. you can get them online for ~$200

built a spacer between the manifold and the top turbo and plumbed it there.

next setup I build I'm going to weld a stub to the manifold itself.

So what do you guys think of the Piers Diesel external wastegate manifold? Is there anyone else that makes one so I wouldn't have to cut and weld my own?

I have seen several manifolds with a wastegate outlet welded into them. Has anyone had trouble with them cracking at the weld. I know the stock manifold doesn't weld very well. Not sure about the ATS. I just bought a Tial 38 for the twins I am building. Got it from O. Poole.

I would imagine the ATS manifold will take to welding better, but if you weld with a nickle rod, welding to the stocker should be fine. don't tell anyone, but I've had good success welding steel to cast iron with just a regular old mild steel MIG wire (only do that on my own junk though!!)

Is there an advantage to building a spacer or welding it to the manifold?(I would rather weld it to the manifold). I heard that a good place to dump the exhaust from the wastgate is in the hot pipe to help the big turbo spool.

yes, you need to feed all the exhaust to the big turbo...

a spacer gives you a little more room... basicly either way will work fine
