My prices came from a customer that is not far from you. He quoted me Labor at $700.00 also.
They work mostly on Corvettes and Vipers, so I suspect excellent workmanship. Very nice people.
Unitrax, Inc, in Anahiem.
Will PM you contact info, in case you're interested.

You are stuck with using Dana gear sets but there are many different kits and suppliers available. Like injectors you get what you pay for. Ask what is included in the kits you get quoted. Some include new bearings, seals and shims. If you go larger numbers than 4.11 you will have to change the carrier as well.

i am having the same problem with my truck. I have BD 75's and it smokes like the dickens off the line, i have a super b also and 355's with a really tight converter which is not helping any. I honestly thought that the injectors are just not up to par, however i thought that the ddp's were really good.

From experience, changing gears isnt always the way to go. For front and rear gears and quality labor you are looking around $1400-$1600. You can put a different spring in your tranny to raise the shift point, or even build twins for that much money. I ran 35's on my 12valve (less efficient head) with an hx35 and never had a smoke issue on take off (unless I purposefully mashed it). Now I run twins and still dont have an issue with smoke down low on 35's. (Twins do slow spool up a little)
If you converter is the problem, why change gears? Trust me, they do alot more on top end than they do for take-off. I run 82mph @ 2k with 35's and 75 @2k with stock tires with my 3.54 gears right at the sweet spot for these engines. I wouldnt go much further than 3.73 but $1600 would be better spent elsewhere rather than changing gears. JMO. I found that 33 inch tires and 3.54 gears are a nice sweet spot. It tows, gets decent mileage and the tires dont look like they belong on roller skates.
