I know these trucks are supposed to have a little white smoke after you start them when its cold, but mine has gotten alot worse latly and the good ole diesel oder has gotten alot worse also. Any ideas guys?

 

whats the temp there?? is it that cold in florida?

 

They'll smoke like a gasoline engine if it's a cold day, except it's not water vapor. The smoke should quickly go away as you drive off though.

 

Yeah, It was -19 last night and on my way home until the truck warmed up she smoked like CRAZY. If it didn't disappear so quickly it could have stopped traffic. Once it warms up it gets a lot less and I am almost thinking it is steam and not smoke but not sure about that.

 

Give the smoke a sniff.
You'll definately be able to tell the difference betwen burning oil, steam and unburnt Diesel.

Be prepared for some eye watering and nose hair burning.

This winter must be a lot colder than last winter.
I don't remember it smoking this bad before.

Mine smokes like crazy too, when the 3 cylinder idle cuts in it gets much better though.
