EDGE Comp

Has anyone with an 01-02 HO been on a dyno with the comp to see what the different levels give you? I know it's rated at 40-60-80-100-120, but I've heard that it puts out less on the HOs.

Re:EDGE Comp

Generally speaking, the wire tap boxes (Edge comp included) that normally produce 120hp, will only produce about 90hp on the HO engines. This is because of the different VP44 the HOs use.
When you add aftermarket injectors, the total HP varies. For example, if you have DD2 injectors (75hp) and an Edge Comp (120hp) on a NON-HO engine, you would think you would have a 195hp increase. In reality, you will have more like a 210-240hp increase. The injectors and boxes when combined produce more than the individual components. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

If you did the same BOMBs to an HO engine, you will get about the same, maybe a little more out of the HO. The HOs will give you more hp from injectors than the SO will , but less from just a box.

Generally, as you go bigger on injectors, the handicap of the HO vp44 goes away. Eventually, once you hit the Mach4/Supermental/BD4 stage, It's pretty much a wash.

At the VERY highest levels of performance, the HO will make a little more hp due to it's higher compression ratio.

MY humble opinion,
Justin

Re:EDGE Comp

Thanks for the reply Hohn. I knew there was a difference in pumps that was responsible for the difference in response to the comp, I was just wondering how big that difference is. I had an EZ, but I just swapped up to a comp, then I heard about the different pumps and the lower hp production by the comp in the HO. I guess what I'm asking is whether it's worth it to tap the wire for ~20hp gain over an EZ.

Those guys that are running the comp like an EZ, what levels are you able to use?

Re:EDGE Comp

A while ago someone posted a picture on the TDR of thier EDGE Comp that they had installed in the coin tray. Has anyone here done that? If so, I'd like to know how you did it, if you had to cut the coin tray, etc.

Re:EDGE Comp

Thanks guys, that's exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully Big Blue or HeberRam will chime in with what they have done.
