considering short shift kit, WORTH IT??
With my NV5600 and 4.10 gears it is great for towing but when there's nothing behind me the shifting in town gets to be a bit much (especially with a full house). For anyone who has it I'd like to know if a BD short shift kit makes enough difference for what it's worth. Even if you've got one and it's not BD i'd still like your input on yours. Thanks

I drove my friends newly purchased 02 HO and the looong shift throws were very noticable--this was definitely NOT my truck.
The kit was spendy (cheapest through Geno's Garage), but worth every penny in my book.
[QUOTE=Philabuster;1846278] Shifts are now easily done with my arm resting on the center console and moving only my wrist.

I've always felt that was the easiest way to shift the 6speed in the first place. Rest your arm on the console and small wrist movements. The 5600 isn't a swooper by any means.

I tried them when I had a 6spd, and also when I got my 5spd. It was pretty cool, and worked great with a single disc clutch. But when I got into dual disc clutches, you loose mechanical advantage, and the dual disc clutches are heavy to shift, so it .
But the product I thought was better useful, was the replacement Whiplash shift lever from Profinish in Kent, WA (253-850-9422). He starts with a stock shift lever, then bends it so the shift **** is right next your leg. No more having your arm streched out, and works great when you have someone sitting in your middle seat. And he paints in in a cool silver or faux chrome. You can even use that Whiplash shift lever along with a BD short shift kit.

I drove a truck this weekend with the BD short shift kit. Didnt miss any gears but it was definitely closer ratio. Loved it and its definitely on my list of things to do when i get cash flow again!!!
i decided against the short shift kit and bent my stocker back and to the drivers side a couple inches, it feels great, i also made my own wieghted shift **** and cant believe how much diff. it made. I high sugg. making a **** of your own in the 2.2- 3 lbs. range, if not you can buy them from a guy on this site. Trust me it really makes the diff!!
