Comp boost numbers on stock turbo

Hey guys, I noticed that with my comp ( wire taped ) I am only getting around 20 psi of boost WOT. Sometimes it will get to 22 if I really lay into it driving around. I know the stock HY35's aren't good for much more, but I was curious if ya'll think my boost is a little low?? My egt's also heat up pretty **** quick and I can hit 1350* but haven't let it go any farther. I was thinking about trying to screw around with my wastegate to see what the results are..........or am I wasting my time with this turbo???

This winter I am planning on a bigger turbo and some injectors, but for now I would like to get a little more out of the stocker if possible. She runs GREAT as it is, but could it run even better? I know boost isn't always the answer for more power, but from what I have been reading on here, most of you guys with a similar set up as mine are pushing way more boost. Let me know what ya think!!!

Thanks guys

With my setup (EZ) and the wastegate spring, I get 31#.
I'll know tomorrow what I get with the Comp.

That is quite low for a Comp on 5x5.....with stock injectors I could easily hit 35 psi - and that is with a HX35.......you elevation could have something to do with it but it still seems low.......did you install the boost elbow supplied with the Comp?

no boost elbow on HY-35's...

more appropriate question is whether or not you modified the wastegate(J-hook)?

I could easily hit over 30 psi with just the EZ...

I have a turbo master on my stock turbo. Set for 28 - 30 psi, but it will peg my 35 psi gauge in a heart beat.

I can get only 26psi with my comp/ wire tapped. I have tried everything short of plugging the wastegate hose. I seem to have plenty of power with the comp I'm almost convinced it is a bad gauge.

I have pressure tested and can not find any reason why i have so low boost.

Go figure.
