'check gauges' light came on....?

This morning I got in my truck and started it up, then noticed a light in the dash thats says "check gauges' So i look at them and the volt gauge is at zero. I had my doubts so I kept driving to work. I get to work shut it off, then back on and the gauge works fine and the light is out????? what gives? anybody had this happen? A intermittent bad gauge im guessing? --Neil

Could also be the altenator going out. Or a loose connection somewhere.

I had the same thing happen while towing our trailer up a nice lon grade in central Washington. The Check gauges light came on and the voltmeter and oil pressure were both reading zero. Yikes, we pulled right over and did the same thing. Turn the truck off and then restarted. Everything back to normal. Visited the dealership the next day and they found a service bulletin that addressed the issue. They reflashed some chip and the problem has not returned.
