Question "Check Engine" light came on

Hi everyone, my 95 CTD, Auto (300000KM), warning light came on "Engine Check" when I started the truck this morning. It freezing cold out there. I noticed barke fuild all over between the fuild container and master cylinder. Can this caused the warning light to come on? If not, can anyone please show me how to check engine code? Thank you in advance.

Check this link out for getting the codes out of your truck.. It says its for the Gas engines, but the basic codes for the truck are similar. I will look for more direct codes on the CTD..

Good luck..

Fritz's Ram Pages OBD1 Codes

Also a bookmark for your files is http://dodgeram.org/support_pgs/diesel_ix.htm. This will have all the information you need for basic CTD operation and upkeep.

(edit) I found the Diesel codes in the same pages..http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/trouble..._DTC_codes.htm

Engine light

I did the code check but nothing appear. Check everything, tranny, brake and engine oil level all ok. Noticed one battery post connection was loosed. Any other suggestion?

Thanks

You should at least get the 1-2 and 5-5 codes from testing the system. Did you get those codes??

Remember to check the codes after the unit has been operating for some time.

Both of my '95s have shown a Engine Check engine light a handful of times in their lives. Nothing was wrong, I just chalked it up to computer glitch.
Just be grateful you don't have a 24 valve where the computer is king.

Talking Got it!!!!

I got the code now. Dumb me, I was expecting digital # to appeared. It was 12. Now, how do I reset the "Check engine" light after fixing the problem?

Thansk again.

The 1-2 code and the 5-5 code should have appeared.

If those are the only codes, there should be no CE lite on.

1-2 is battery disconnected in last 100? Starts
5-5 end of codes.

Again, check the dodgeram.org website for the appropriate code.

Is you need to reset the computer, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and turn the key to start for 20 seconds. Makes sure you disconnect both batteries to ensure no power to the PCM. Re-connect the terminal and run the unit for a few minutes. Then shutdown and check the codes.
