alright last night crusin down the road i got into the left lane and startrd getting into it and then the truck fell flat on its face it did not shut off it went from about 2400rpm`s to basically idle once the rpm`s got down to about 1800 the truck ran fine...and now the truck runs fine except when i demand fuel then it goes back to cutting out....i put it on a scanner and it said .....no commucation between the ecm and injection moduel..does this mean injection pump???

 

The lift pump is not providing a corresponding signal to the on-board processor in the VP44 (injection pump) when it is demanding more fuel, so it then dumps a series of these vague and misleading codes back to the ECM.

In plain English, it is likely the lift pump, but until you test your lift pump volume and pressure you will not know for sure. It could be a plugged filter from ice or parafin in the fuel, minute air bubbles in the fuel line from old flexible lines, a stuck component in the injection pump, the intake screen in the tank plugged from parafin or ice in cold weather, or the delivery valve in the injection pump has failed and is jambing pump timing.

Now you know why they are such a pain for dealer techs to sort out the trouble.

The best solution is to start with the simple items first and get the rig so you have a fuel pressure reading in the acceptable range. If you have adequate input line pressure to the injection pump, and the code still pops up, or the truck will not run properly, then you will need to look at replacing the injection pump.
