Can I use 100W headlights on a 2000 Ram?

A friend of mine just gave me a set of Matrix bulbs for my truck.. He said he did not like them. They are part #01-107 and listed as 12V 100/80W Ultra White. Can I use these on my 2000 Ram SLT or will they be too strong? I dont want to fry/melt anything. Here is the website for them. Thanks.

100 w divided by 12V will equal 8.3 amps draw each. probably not a problem. I would check with local regs to see if you can run 100w ers on the street. Thats mighty bright

You should get the Summit Racing relay kit first. Part number SUM-890030, takes the load off the headlight switch. www.summitracing.com SNOKING

I think anything beyond 55W wont be legal for use on roads or highways....better check before you buy.

The stock headlights leave a lot to be desired.

There are HID conversion kits (like BMW etc,) on the market but they run about $700 I believe.

I dont know the stock wattage. I think someone said 65W but Im not sure. I just dont want to melt anything on my electrical system. From what my friend said he used them and they were not that much brighter than his standard ones. They have a real dark blue tint over them.

Stock used to be 55/65? I think, used to get the old style hellas and put the 85/100s in them. Very bright, give the dude in front of you a sunburn on the back of the head at a stop light.

I know a guy that has automatic BB guns mounted on the back of his truck for shooting out bright headlights that blind him in his rear veiw mirror.

Real 4 wheelers dont need no stinkin head lights !!!

Let the moon and stars light your way !

I like driven with no lights on open roads in the the middle of no where , where there aint no cops. Try it you will like it...

yeah....I get lots of people (including truckers) flashing their high beams when I have my stock 35W for lights on

They be real happy if I was driving around with 100W headlights.

I think the stock headlight wiring is to small to support something that size.
