Boost fooler with RV275's?

Do I need to use a boost fooler if I install Bosch RV275's in my stock truck?

I heard if you don't, you won't get the full potential. The boost comes up and after roughly 20psi (not positive) it defuels.

Wastegate's set to around 18-20 psi... You'll see no more than this. The 275 alone should net you in the mid 20's with the boost fooler and elbow or turnbuckle... You don't "need" it at all, but power & EGT wise it WOULD be worth the extra $50-$70.

I think I'll get the RV275's put in and see what happens. Where is the best place to get a boost fooler? And do I need both a boost fooler and elbow?

Yeah, you will need both, the elbow keeps the wastgate from opening. And the Boost fooler "fools" the computer, keeping it from seeing all the boost and defueling...

No, you won't get any codes without the boost fooler as long as your wastegate is working properly and holding your boost at 20-22 psi. You will get noticably more power with a boost fooler and a blocked wastegate or boost elbow when running 275's. The 275's should net you easily 26 psi of boost - any less and you won't realize their full potential as the ECM will start to defuel at about at 18-20 psi.

Right now, in stock form, the maximum boost I see is 17-18 psi. I found an adjustable boost elbow on ebay. What is the difference between a boost elbow and a boost fooler? Where are they mounted? I'm a little confused where each one is mounted.

boost fooler is for the computer, boost elbow is for the wastegate

A boost ELBOW blocks and bleeds pressure traveling to the wastegate actuator... This is the component that actually gives you the extra boost. It mounts to the turbo housing

A boost FOOLER is essentially a resistor that blocks your MAP sensor from telling the ECM that there is an over-boost condition, to defuel and throw a code... Thus "fooling" it. It plugs into the MAP sensor on the driver's side of the engine towards the firewall.

Each one needs the other to be of any use.

With my 275's, wastegate spring and EZ, I see 32 psi.

Hey man weld your waste gate shut. Get an EZ & the 275's & let her rip. That boost elbow is a waste of time. Just weld the little flat plate at the back of the wastegate linkage closed. It won't hurt a thing. I have been running mine like that for ol about 220,000 miles with a comp & 90 HP injectors. It Creates NO problems. Don't waste your money on just a boost fooler. Get the EZ at least. That will do wonders for you. Get your valve body pressure raised & it will help your torque convertor hold up with out any problems unless you already have TC problems.

My tranny hasn't given me problems yet with being stock so I think the RV275's will be fine...I hope? Guess I'll find out after I install them after I get back from vacation next week. I'm heading to the East Coast Saturday. I'll keep you all posted on how the install goes. Where can I find instructions on how to install them?
