Boost elbow, blocked wastegate????

A buddy and I bought 2 banks big hoss boxes, he has an 01 2500 auto and I have a 02 2500 auto. Do we need to use some type of j hook or do we just use a boost elbow? I have done some searching but don't really understand what each one does. Both of the boxes are like the edge ez they don't tap the wire....I know that banks isn't the top choice around here but we liked the safety features for the auto trans. Any help would be appreciated.

On the 01 and 02 automatics, the turbos have a hard lined wastegate which prevents you from using that little boost elbow. The boost elbow is for the HX series turbos that have a rubber hose running from the wastegate into the turbo. What the elbow does is it reduces the pressure being sent to the wastegate so it won't open a 20psi of boost!! Too bad the auto's have the hard line.

The J-hook on the other hand is designed for the auto's. It hooks onto the rod for the wastegate and has a tight spring that won't let the wastegate open as easily therefore giving you more boost to play with. I actually designed my own setup for mine that works awesome as a manuel boost controller!! Give me a little bit today and I will post you some pictures of my setup that will cost you next to nothing but a trip to the local hardware store!! If you got anymore questions, just let me know!!

I just put the Bully Dog J-hook on last night in preparation of arrival of my comp. A bit more money, but it's adjustable.

This winter I am doing a bigger turbo on mine so I didn't really want to spend the money on one and then not have a use for it later on so I just made one to get me by until then. But if you are planning on keeping your turbo that is the better way to go as far as looks go. Mine doesn't look bad, but not as good as the J-hooks

67HOTROD, Let us know how you like that comp, I'm sure you are gonna love it!!
