Boost elbow?

Isn't my turbo supposed to have a place to put this elbow?

Or are you supposed to replace the elbow on the afc? If thats the case I don't see any reason for one, you can easly adjust or restrict the hard line to the wastegate. I thought all HX-35's had an elbow on them.

It should be right under the intake tube that goes to the turbo. It's pretty easy to see, just look at the front of the turbo.

If I remember correctly, the auto trucks have them in the front of the compresor housing, and the 5speed trucks have them on the AFC housing. The stock one isn't adjustable thats why they made the aftermarket one, so it can control how much boost gets to the waste gate

you shouldn't need one with you mods. my friend has the same mods as you except he has a 0 plate and he is making 40psi without it being blocked

With your mods if you aren't seeing somewhere around 35lbs of boost, I'd say get on installed. If you still have the stock turbo I would imagine your EGT's are through the roof, thats where the boost elbow helps, stock your waste gate opens at about 20lbs which is not near enough air for your mods

if he isn't seeing 35psi he has a boost leak i'm able to hit 50psi on mine when i had a wastegated housing. boost elbows are only good if you just have a fuel plate

I haven't ever bombed a truck that high so your probably correct, but I thought the waste gate would open at about 20psi if there isn't something like a boost elbow to hold back the preasure until a higher psi. Is this not correct?

You are correct but it is possible to make more boost than the wastegate will bleed off.

I make 36 psi with the wastegate, without over 50, I was wanting to know if the turbo was supposed to have the stock elbow on it somewhere. EGT's are fine with my mod's even towing, but I can get it hot at any time I want.

I was half asleep earlier. The reason that you can overspeed the turbo is that only half the cylanders are wastegated. Enough heat can come through the turbo on the non wastegated side to cause the boost to go over the wastegate setting. There was a post a month or two ago about hogging out the devider in the H1c turbo to improve spool up and make the waste gate work better on a modded motor.
You should have a factory elbow on the turbo or AFC housing. I believe the AFC style is a t fitting. I would have to dig out my TST plate directions to be sure. If you are hitting 35PSI on a stock turbo I would call it good.
