I was lookin under the hood of my truck,and saw that the prevous owner had pluged the wastegate hose and clamped it, and put a plug in the turbo neck, now, I am not exactly stock but would like to know if this is O.K. or if I should get a boost elbow put on? anybody make one for me? $$$$$ any ideas on makin one? I am not real kean on this being completly pluged, no gauges yet, I got a boost gauge, -not in yet, and its only a 20lb boost,30lb vacuum! any sugestions?

 

If you're concerned about it get some plumbing bits and hook it back up. A street elbow and a hose barb will get it working again.

 

I would exchange the boost/vacuum gauge for a boost only that goes to 35psi. I have plugged the hole in my turbo as well. Max boost I have seen is 28psi, but have not towed heavy since disabling the wastgate. Power is much,much better over 20psi. W/wastgate, I could never get over 18psi.

 

If you plan on modding you may want to go even higher than 35psi, but yes vacuum isn't used on a diesel since they have no throttle. (and it is 30"hg)
