Question Best High flow filter for Factory Airbox

I'm not ready to go into a full blown air delivery replacement yet but it is time for a new filter.

i am guessing you are using a paper filter so my suggestion would be the K&N drop in filter. they work great if properly cleaned and last for a long time.

Yep using a paper filter.
Is there not a High Flow paper filter I can use?
I will probably remove my airbox the next time I change my filter and if I do I don't wan't to end up wasting a more expensive washable filter.

Friend of mine recently bought a drop in high flow filter from Diesel Power Products- 866-379-8685 that looked real good for a decent price. I don't remember the name though. Give them a ring and ask for Dave.

I know many people who have had bad experiences with the filtration quality of K&N. I'm not sure if it's a design flaw or a quality control issue, but they didn't filter well.

These issues are MUCH too common to attribute to "improper cleaning". I *do* believe that most people clean their oiled-gauzed filters too often. Oiled gauze filters like K&N filter best when used. Since they tend to filter poorly when cleaned, I'd rarely clean mine, and even then I wouldn't concern myself with getting all the dirt out.

As for lasting a long time, they ARE a "lifetime filter", and I think that heat is about the only concern in the long-term.

Personally, I'd stick with the OEM filter setup until you NEED more airflow (have chronic EGT issues).

Then, I'd recommend an AFE PG-7 if you prefer the oiled gauze design. K&N's quality has sliupped too much for me to recommend them.

Other options are the UNI and Amsoil oiled-foam drop-ins if you prefer that design.

If you want to stick with paper and a proven level of filtration (if not flow), then a BHAF variant is your only real option.
