So my buddy jus bought the factory airbox mod and straight pipe piece from a local dodge dealership.. I wonder if the mod to the airbox really helped at all.. But the good thing is it doesnt effect his stock or extended warranty..

 

I'll never forget the first concise performance words I ever read concerning a diesel. Being absolutely brand new to perf dieseling, I only knew Banks...so I went to thier website.. It said.......you can't just add fuel without opening up
intake & exhaust to accomodate the increase and......the more fuel you add,the more you must open things up (straight 4'' to 5" to 6")

I dont know what the factory airbox mod is but if it has more holes or something & flows more cfm, it IS AN IMPROVEMENT. When I did my airbox I immediately heard turbo I hadn't before. I still have my silencer ring there, too.

Your buddy definately made improvement on exhaust & probably on intake, too. He has taken initial steps needed for more hp.

Pretty much the airbox mod is you cut a 4" hole in the bottom of the airbox screw a piece to the box so you can clamp a piece of hose to it.. and the hose drops straght down infront of the wheel skirt in front so it acts like a cold air and they have a new hose from the box to the turbo for better airflow... Dodge actually has a pre bent pipe so you can jus take out your muffler and straight pipe it. with the cat still in...

 

Never heard of that before, how about a price?

 

Ya really, I will have to look into the strait pipe from Dodge also......

 

He paid something like $497 for the airbox mod and straight pipe... together.. Which is like buying a hole exhaust...

 

Anybody have a problem with water injestion with this mod? Seems like a cheap way to get a little more flow if you mod your own box.
