Tools aren't a problem

Has anyone used an insulation barrier on the outside of their heat shield to reflect heat? If so, what product did you use?

I'm thinking of trimming the shield out with rubber edge trim, available at JC Whitney ... then maybe paint it red! Red heat shield, red outerwears

 

someone here had theirs powercoated red.....mechanos I believe. Looked great.

Whitmore has his made out of aluminum diamondplate.

 

got my son to laser cut a heat sheild out of 1mm s/s, he says that they use s/s for heat shields on Challenger tanks.

 

What guage is that? 1 mm sounds kinda thin to me....
