Auto heatexchanger with twins

Ok I done it, ordered a twins setup from Piers bummer its 5 weeks out anyway Harry said the heatexchanger would have to be removed so I wondered if anyone has relocated it or if its been a problem without it? Any input from those running twins with a auto would be greatly appreciated (wish I could spell )

You have to get rid of it. Take a look at my user gallery in the TDR webite (justinp20012500) I have some pretty good pictures showing the removal.

O ya, its been out for about 6 months without a single problem.

It runs alittle hotter in traffic (190) and colder on the freeway (120) but other then that I haven't had any issues with it even in the dead of winter.

Sorry been away working last couple of days
I clicked on the links and it says images not available im not sure if its because im not a member or.... I assume the only real issue will be warming up the trans and as far as cooling there would be no difference? I notice since the new converters so tight that in stop and go traffic the temp climbs fairly quick so since most of my driving is in town then it should be ok? Thanks

Depending on the design, you might need to notch it out a little. My twins fit with the heat exchanger on there, but with a little bit ground off the front support bracket. Mine are a design by Tim Barber (TimInVa), not Piers, so it may be mandatory with the Piers design.
The rusty-red area along the front bottom edge, starting at about the label on the side, and going forward, down around the curve, is where mine had to be ground to make room for the HT3B.

When I built my first setup I pulled mine out and tied the two lines together and have yet to have an issue with it....2+ years now, if you run in allot of traffic then you might have to add another one up front.

I added a cooler with fan behind the trans with thermostat to divert the oil untill it is over 160* when returning from the front coolers. I removed the unit about 6mo. before installing the twins, my running temps reduced dramaticly and I have never missed it.
