i have seen thier adds, but haven't heard of any reason to buy it, unless mine were to break. anyone know of any reason? (like increased performance?)...

It becomes more important at higher HP levels as the stock exhaust manifolds tend to shink/expand and eventually crack...

When I upgraded my turbo I used it as an excuse to put one on. I put 135,000 on the original, and plan on putting twins on. I wanted the manifold to help support stuff and am hoping for more flow. I did work the ATS over pretty well with my dremel.

How well is the ATS manifoldport-matched? GSDog, what did you do to your manifold when you installed it?

Go look at a Cummins engine in most any other application and you'll see it has a three piece manifold then decided for yourself if there must be a reason for this.
On a 24 valve the stock manifold tends to eventually crack in the middle, on 12s it breaks the hold down ears off the head. The higher the egts the engine sees the greater the warpage.
On some of the stock manifolds I've removed there has been as much as 3/8" of warpage when the manifold is laid on a flat surface, what has amazed me is that after the manifolds have sat overnight they are straight again. Same with bent bolts, they straighten out on their own.

While the ATS manifold is a "neat to have" piece, it probably won't go onto my truck until the OEM manifold cracks.

Justin:

The inlets were rather rough and I spent about 6 hours smoothing it out with the dremel. The manifold in its entirety looked to be well made. I could have done more, but felt I had gotten a enough done to suit me for now. I didn't match port or flow bench it.....

That was really about it. My buddy lined it up on a head that was out of a truck, and got it together rather nicely! Went right in. Take some time with the bolts and make sure you get them good and tight.

In the late 70's my old man drove "semi-truck" He was die hard cummins. Guess thats where I got it. Anyhow like us and Power-Jokes now it was Cummins VS Cat back then. In the heat of it all I can remember him ordering his "PULSE" manifold I think ATS made it. (not sure100% though) His truck Revved faster and spooled quicker (they may have sold him a smaller ex. housing) and he passed his CAT powered buddies. Do these "PULSE" technology manifolds produce these same results for our trucks?
