ARP nut, and issues
ARP nut, and issues
So let me start by telling you my "story" of trying to get arp studs. I blew the HG back on New years day....Ordered a set of studs later that week, they come in and are the wrong ones, I was sent 12V studs. They informed me they were out of stock on the ones I needed so I got a refund. I order the right ones from somewhere else, and Fed-Ex loses them. So I reorder and they finally come in about a week and a half ago.
So tonight I put the new head back on and I'm putting the studs in one by one, I lube them up and start putting the nuts and washers on each. get to about # 25 of 26 and find out that one of my nuts had no threads on it....What do I do? obviously I'm probably going to have to wait more...I could probably finish putting everything back together besides torquing the studs down, but I was hoping to finish this weekend.
But since I started the thread I guess I'll add to it. When doing the initial torque cycle, do you re-apply lube each time you step up in torque? Or only when you are retorquing after heat up?
All in all it hasn't gone too bad...until now, the most tedious part was bottom tapping the holes and putting the new head back on. There is hardly room under the cowl for a head to be dropped in.
