Pitman Arm Nut Size? Questioning Torque Specs New Nut
I got my Defiant steering brace on Monday and have been patiently waiting (like a kid on Christmas eve)... till today to put it on. So i speed home from work bust out the anti seize, torque wrench, ratchet, and what i thought was the only socket i needed (32mm deep for the new pitman arm nut). Not the case...
I've searched the forums but can not find any info on the (correct) socket size for OE nut. 31mm - no, 1 1/4 - nope, 32mm - try again, help Please!!
(and)
While i was searching for the nut size i ran across a few posts with torque specs... ranging anywhere from 185-225Ft lbs. The instructions for the new nut say 40ft lbs. and then turn 90 degrees more. ?? I didnt question it till i saw all the other post with specs in the 200 range...?

I have an adjustable spud wrench that should fit, but would like to have the correct size socket just incase.... good excuse to get more tools if nothing else...
I wonder why such the big difference on the torque spec from the OE to the new nut... I'm gonna give Defiant a call in the morning.

Yepper, it is.... Went and got a few large sockets (never know when youre gonna need em..)
thanks Stroker....
So the 40ft lbs. + turn 90 degrees is about 225ft lbs. I set the TW to 225 and did the 90 degree turn and it was pretty much right on.
well thats done.... time to work on the quad...

There is no G. There is no G. Repeat after me, THERE IS NO G!
Dustin' off this post. It is the one I found about getting the new nut torqued down right without using a torque wrench.
