I think you can go up to a certain RPM without setting codes, and it seems like that level is more than you need, depending on purpose of course... someone mentioned 1550 RPM. For me 1400 will be plenty.

Now the question is will the PTO function work when the wheel speed sensor is sending info saying that the truck is moving...or will it default out of it? Very interesting about the PTO...BUT can we confirm that it will work 100% when grounded out? I just hate to ground something and it go ZAP!!!! Game over.......

True you can, but I just thought I would post if for other useful information to this thread.

I read the entire post over on the TDR, yes all 18 pages, and it is supposed to be grounded to function. It disables some of the OBD features.

Good question if it will work while the truck is in motion?

Man, I go to lunch and you guys fill a whole page! wow. I'm not used to this much response!

Re: the PTO wire. There's was LOTS of talk about this wire over on the TDR. Best I recall, there's not really much we can do with it. Something about the DC 50pin ECM vs. the Cummins 100Pin ECM comes to mind. Meaning, we don't have the WHOLE ISB ECM... I think the wire just happens to be part of our 50pin harness, there's something in the Cummins one that enables it. IIRC that is.

Although I will say that some have been able to achieve a high idle by grounding that pin. But again, IIRC, it was hit and miss.

I think this circuit you guys have come up with is nearly perfect. I little tweaking here and there and we'll have exactly what we're looking for.

EDIT: Oh yeah... I just re-read your earlier posts... I remember now, you're right. Grounding the PTO keeps from setting codes. I guess at higher RPM.

I don't have a remote start and I know thats what this was originally what ya were tryin for all I was lookin for is sumthin to keep my idle up if I stopped somewhere so the truck dosen't cool back off and for morning warmup.

So do you think that if I jumped the 5v to signal with the reostat or whatever between it would work for this type of application, or are ya sayin that by jumpin it it would keep the APPS from workin even when the POT is turned off.

Or I guess What I'm tryin to ask is would I need to put a switch inline with the POT if I ran it this way or if it would work at all if I just used the stock 5v supply.

Thanks much

On our truck it is not to enable a PTO or change the idle like some suggested. After reading all 18 pages over on the TDR grounding the PTO wire on our trucks disables some ODB features so the truck can idle higher beyond the present point where it will beging to throw codes and return to the normal idle.

MacJazzy......you want to try that PTO function and see if it works...since you had issue with this? Shouldnt be hard to do....PTO wire is on the driver side just under the cowl in the main harness....has a tag that says "PTO" on it......

It would be very easy to incorporate the PTO wire into the switched ground for the box..........

I just tried this. I found my pto wire. Mine is orange coming out of the harness about mid way across the cowl. I used a jumper to ground it to the battery and I could run the idle up to 2k before pcm juped in and dropped it back to idle and set a code.

However I tried it without the jumper and got the same response. Beofer I could not get above 1500 so I am not sure what is different now, other than I tried it without jumper after it had set the code and I have not cleared it.

Will try again later, but for right now whether it was the jumper to the pto wire or not 2k rpms is the max I can get. I actually don't need that much , kind of just experimenting now for the sake of the group.

I just finished making my high idle box. I also used the smaller project box and it worked ok but I think if I were to build another I would opt for the larger box.

I need to grab a few posi taps and try to get it installed on the truck tomorrow.

I agree, I checked their website and I was unable to locate one there either.
